If you’re in the Los Angeles area, run, do not walk, to a tribute to one of my heroes: the late, great Octavia E. Butler.
The event is this Saturday at the Leimert Park Book Fair.
Go, then tell me all about it.
Tananarive Due and Steven Barnes will lead the tribute.
Details here.

I wish I could go to this. Octavia Butler was an amazing talent we lost too soon. I’m torn trying to decide which of her work is my favorite. I waffle between the Parables and the Patternist series… I guess it’s safe to say I have yet to find a Butler book I didn’t love. And I couldn’t think of two better writers that Tananarive Due and Steve Barnes to pay tribute to her. I’m anxiously awaiting Due’s upcoming release. That is one sequel that is going to fly off the shelves.

She was such a brilliant author. Wish I could be there.
